On Sunday, ALPA College of Liberal Arts and Sciences held its Fall 2025 Certificate Awarding Ceremony online, bringing together students, instructors, and guests from many different places. The event marked another milestone in ALPA’s effort to keep serious education alive and accessible for Afghan students wherever they live.

The ceremony opened with remarks from Dr Bashir Mobasher. He welcomed students and described how ALPA’s academic work has grown from individual short courses to more structured programs and now an emerging diploma track. Dr Bashir invited students who have long term learning goals to consider joining the ALPA College diploma program, which offers a more coherent foundation in law, politics, and the liberal arts. He also spoke about recent achievements of ALPA College, including new courses, stronger academic standards, and increasing collaboration with instructors inside and outside Afghanistan.

Dr Jeiran Moghaddam, instructor of the TOEFL iBT preparation course, also addressed the graduates. She praised the persistence of her students, who attended sessions from different time zones and juggled work, family responsibilities, and study. She reminded them that the skills they developed in this course will support not only exam success and scholarship applications, but also deeper engagement with reading, writing, and research.

There is a growing trend among students, switching from certificate programs to achieving Diploma. In total, close to forty-three students received certificates from ALPA College this term while many students have already earned credits by completing several classes and are moving forward toward a future diploma. For some, this was the first formal recognition of their academic work since universities in Afghanistan became closed to them. For others, it is an important step toward graduate study or professional goals abroad.

Throughout the event, students used the chat, emojis and reflection time to thank the ALPA College team. They spoke about how the courses helped them remain intellectually active during a difficult period, and they acknowledged the work, dedication, and sacrifices of the ALPA administration and faculty. They mentioned the patient feedback, flexible scheduling, and constant support that made sustained study possible despite internet problems and personal challenges.

The ceremony ended with an invitation to stay connected. Graduates were encouraged to continue into the diploma program, to join future research and writing projects, and to support new students as mentors and friends.

The Fall 2025 Certificate Awarding Ceremony took place in a simple virtual room, but its meaning was larger. Each completed course and each certificate is part of a longer educational path for Afghan students, one that continues even when conventional campuses and classrooms are out of reach.
