ALPA Announces Bayhaqi Award
Oct. 5, 2026
The Afghanistan Law and Political Science Association, ALPA in Exile, is pleased to announce Bayhaqi Award for the Best Presentation at the 2026 ALPA Annual Conference.
This award is designed to recognize presenters who communicate their research clearly, stay within the assigned time, and engage the audience effectively. It is also intended to encourage all presenters to prepare carefully and help make conference panels more focused, thoughtful, and productive.
Academic conferences are most meaningful when presenters are able to share their main argument, explain the importance of their work, and leave enough time for questions, feedback, and discussion. The Best Presentation Award reflects ALPA’s commitment to supporting serious scholarship, constructive exchange, and professional academic presentation.
Award Criteria

Presentations may be considered based on the following criteria:
Ability to present the paper within the assigned time
Panels with 5 or 6 presenters: 10 minutes per presentation
Panels with 4 presenters: 12 minutes per presentation
Panels with 3 presenters: 14 minutes per presentation
Co-presenters must share the time slot allocated for one presentation
Clear explanation of the research question, argument, and contribution
Clear explanation of the research methodology and contribution to the literature
Effective use of evidence, data, examples, or sources
Meaningful engagement with questions and discussion
Published work and developed drafts will be considered a plus
The award recipient or recipients will be announced at the end of the conference.
ALPA hopes this award will encourage presenters to prepare well, respect the time of fellow panelists, and contribute to thoughtful and engaging discussions across all panels. Through this award, ALPA also seeks to celebrate the work of scholars who bring clarity, discipline, and intellectual seriousness to their presentations.
