ALPA Featured in American University Magazine

July 17, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that the Afghanistan Law and Political Science Association (ALPA) has been prominently featured in the latest issue of American University’s CAS Magazine. The article, titled "Learning as an Act of Resistance," highlights the remarkable efforts of ALPA, led by Dr. Bashir Mobasher, in providing clandestine online education to Afghan girls and women amidst the Taliban's oppressive regime.

ALPA’s Online Education Academy, which has grown from a single course in 2022 to offering 30 courses today, provides a lifeline for Afghan students, focusing on diverse subjects such as hard sciences, gender studies, and mental health. This initiative empowers Afghan girls and women, enabling them to continue their education despite severe restrictions.

The feature also emphasizes the academy's innovative strategies to overcome challenges like safety issues, language barriers, and limited internet access, ensuring that education remains accessible and impactful. Through the dedication of volunteer faculty and the resilience of its students, ALPA continues to stand as a beacon of hope and opportunity for Afghan women.
