ALPA Launches Several Research Committees to Strengthen Afghanistan Studies

The Afghanistan Law and Political Science Association (ALPA) is proud to announce the formation of ten dedicated Research Committees, marking a significant milestone in our mission to foster academic exchange, generate original research, and build a vibrant scholarly community focused on Afghanistan and the region.
These Research Committees are designed to connect scholars with shared interests, encourage joint projects, and provide structured platforms for developing panel proposals, publications, and collaborative initiatives. Each committee centers around a specific area of inquiry, including:
RC 2. Civil and Criminal Law
RC 3. Constitutionalism
RC 8. Political Economy
With an exceptional lineup of leading scholars of various fields of study in each committee, we are confident this marks the beginning of a transformative chapter in Afghanistan Studies. The committees are structured to function independently and where members will elect a Chair and Vice-Chair, and decide on the direction of their collaboration. ALPA will support each committee by appointing a secretary to assist with coordination, sharing administrative resources, and promoting committee activities.
These specialized committees will also play a critical role in ALPA’s Annual Conference and the Reimagining Afghanistan Forum by helping shape panels, inviting paper submissions, and recommending keynote speakers. Members are also encouraged to share opportunities, present their research ideas and proposals, invite others to join, and broaden participation across disciplines and borders.
We are excited to see the innovation and impact these committees will bring, not only to ALPA but also to the wider academic and policy communities committed to Afghanistan's future.
